Her story

Niki Bonfield

I spent a lifetime trying to fit in. Now I'm learning how to belong to myself.

I found out I was neurodivergent late in life, and it reframed everything that came before it. Childhood confusion, a therapy experience that fractured trust, years of feeling too much and questioning too often. The books came out of that, and so did the way I work now.

I am a counsellor and art therapist in Stirling in the Adelaide Hills, working with adults in person and online across Australia. I paint, too, under NeuroNest Studio. The writing, the counselling and the painting are the same story told three ways.

What I write about

Late diagnosis. Masking, and the cost of it. Sensory overwhelm. Motherhood. Therapy that helped and therapy that did not. Advocacy. The quiet, unglamorous work of healing.

If you found out late, these books were written for you.
